London Necropolis

City of the dead

Thank you for visiting London Necropolis. If you wish to use my photos for social networking sites etc. it would be LOVELY if you could donate £2.50 towards my hosting costs.

The London Cemeteries

London is a huge city, and when you have 100 cemeteries to visit - it can seem a bit daunting.  Therefore I have divided the city up into areas.  Eventually I hope to have them mapped for you - I was considering including a map from Hugh Mellor's London Cemeteries book, but that would be breaching copyright.  And as I don't want anyone stealing my images, it would be wrong to do so!

Below are links to the areas of London. I've separated out The Magnificent Seven if you are interested in the 'big ones' - but I've also included them in their relevant geographical area.  I've used the postcodes of the cemeteries to separate them; and approximated (geographically) which areas the others fall into, for example, although Richmond isn't an SW post-code, I've included in the South-West part of London.  However, if you just want an alphabetical list go here:
LIST OF LONDON CEMETERIES IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER

I've also included the original London Necropolis, Brookwood Cemetery (outside of Guildford and Woking) as a separate page.  This cemetery doesn't actually lie in London, however it was named the London Necropolis after the railway that connected it to Waterloo Station.  It was also commissioned to house London's dead, therefore it is considered to be a London Cemetery.
